River Pools T40 Fiberglass Pool Review

A pool is only as good as its deep end. I totally made that quote up, but ever since getting into the pool industry, I have been fascinated by fiberglass pools and some of the myths surrounding them. For years, concrete and vinyl liner pool builders claimed that fiberglass pools don’t have real deep ends, which is true if you want a deep end deep enough for diving. The T40 fiberglass pool from River Pools does not fit this mold, however.

The T40 is our focus in this new entry in our series of fiberglass pool reviews. At Royal Pools and G2 Outdoor Designs, we have been installing fiberglass pools since the early 2000s and have seen hundreds of pool designs in hundreds of backyards. A fiberglass pool with a truly spacious deep end like the T40 caught our eye.

In this review, we’re going to break down some of the specifics that make the T40 unique, as well as some stuff we don’t love about it, all in hopes of helping you determine if this pool may be the right fit for you.

Size Options

The T40 is a fiberglass pool specialized for its specific size, and thus is only available in one size.

  • 16’ x 40’
  • Holds 23,000 gallons
  • Depth of 3’8” – 8’6”

The one size is actually not necessarily a bad thing in this case, as anyone interested in a fiberglass pool with a deep end is generally going to need a pool at least 40 feet long. Fiberglass pools aren’t customizable the way that vinyl liner and gunite inground pools are. So if you really like the T40 design, for example, the design you see is exactly what you’re going to get.

Features and Functionality

The biggest draw aesthetically and practically of the T40 is no doubt the deep end. As we said, most fiberglass pools don’t have spacious deep ends. Inground swimming pools must have a minimum of 8 feet in the deep end if you want to put a diving board on it. The average depth of most fiberglass swimming pools is 4-5 feet. The T40’s wide-open deep end not only gives swimmers a huge area to enjoy themselves but also means that you can put a diving board on this pool. Which for fiberglass pools is very unique.

The features of the T40 fiberglass pool are:

  • Spacious deep end
  • Wide open shallow end
  • Shallow end bench
  • Slip-resistant entry steps
  • Deep-end corner benches that double as exit points.

Pros

The T40 is no doubt highly appealing, but like any pool, any big purchase for that, you should weigh the pros and cons of the product. Some of the pros and cons of the T40 are as follows.

  • Deep-end unique for fiberglass pools
  • The 17-foot wide shallow end
  • Compatible with diving board
  • Easy to install automatic cover
  • Ease of maintenance
  • Multiple color options

Cons

  • Only one point of entry
  • Not customizable
  • Larger size may incur greater freight costs.
  • Only available in one size

Picking a pool can be stressful, we know. Being informed and educated about the pool you’re committing to is absolutely essential. That is why we started this fiberglass pool review series. The T40 is a great pool through and through, and with the long-lasting durability of fiberglass pools, you can enjoy this pool for years to come. We give this pool an A. Our highest grade so far! The big ol’ deep end makes this pool perfect for anyone looking to transform their backyard into an outdoor oasis.
