A Review of the L36 Fiberglass Pool by River Pools
Let me ask you a question… if you’re in the market for an inground swimming pool, would you prefer a rectangular pool or maybe an oval or curvy pool design? Different strokes for different folks. Perhaps you really want an oval pool, but your spouse really wants a rectangular pool. One great thing about inground pools is that the options are almost limitless.
At Royal Pools and G2 Outdoor Designs, we install vinyl liner pools and fiberglass pools. Having been in the industry for over 24 years, we’ve seen our fair share of wild pool designs, incorporating different designs and aesthetics. A fiberglass pool can transform almost any backyard into an outdoor oasis. They’re not traditionally customizable the way concrete pools and vinyl liner pools are. You have to pick a design you are absolutely in love with, and when it is time to install, the fiberglass pool shell will be transported to your home.
River Pools knows all about this. They’ve been in the fiberglass pool business since 2001 and offer 5 lines of unique fiberglass pools and three other pool types. Today we’re going to review one of those pools, called the L36.
Size Options
The L36 is a one-size-only pool. River does carry lines of pools with multiple size options, but as of right now, the L36 fiberglass pool only comes in one size. The dimensions are:
- 16’ x 36’
- Holds 10,000 gallons
- Depth of 4’ to 5’4”
Features and Functionality
A fairly average-sized pool, the L36 does feature the open swim space that people love about rectangular pools. The big draw of this pool is the elegant design, combining the best parts of a rectangular pool as well as a shaped pool. You have the open swim space of a rectangular pool as well as the curved edges of a shaped pool.
The tanning ledge and deep-end bench make for perfect lounging spots for those eager to catch a tan or watch their little ones swim. The pool also features, as do all of River’s fiberglass pools, a non-skid surface texture that prevents slipping. The pool is not very deep, however, extending down to 5 feet 4 inches deep, which means you can’t put a diving board on it. River Pools offers another pool, the T40 (link review here), with an 8 feet 6 inches deep end for all your deep diving needs.
If the design of the pool is really appealing, but the small deep end isn’t what you want, you may be wondering “What are some other pros and cons?” Every product has its pros and cons and you should weigh them carefully, especially a massive investment like an inground swimming pool.
Pros
- Wide-open swim space
- Compatible with automatic cover
- Non-slip texture
- Ease of maintenance
- Multiple color options
- Unique design
Cons
- Small deep end
- Only available in one size
Having reviewed the T40, the X36, and the L36 pools from River Pools (the three pools that come in one size only), the best pool is still the T40. The deep end and swim space but it ahead of most fiberglass pools on the market. The L36 is neck and neck with the X36. In fact, we’re going to give the L36 the same grade, an A-. The unique design is highly attractive and will look amazing in any backyard. If the pool came in more sizes it may be higher.
