E-Z Pool: All In One Pool Blend

Everyone loves chemistry, right? Well, regardless of whether you love chemistry or can’t name a single element on the periodic table, if you want a pool you’re going to have to brush up on your chemistry. If you’re an experienced pool owner, odds are you’ve dealt with low chlorine levels, perhaps even cloudiness or algae in your pool. Keeping a pool clear and clean can be frustrating if you don’t know what you’re doing, and many people don’t know how to balance the water chemistry.

Here at Royal Pools we always emphasize balancing as the most vital aspect of pool water maintenance and recommend ensuring that the pool is balanced before it can be shocked. The problem most people end up having is that there are too many balancers to remember and keep up with. When we say balance a pool’s water we’re referring to chemicals like alkalinity, calcium hardness, and pH. Each of these chemicals has to be maintained at different ranges consistently or else the chlorine you put in the pool will be ineffective. It would be a lot easier and more cost-effective if there was some sort of solution to these balancing problems. Luckily for everyone, our friends over at APi Water do have the solution in the form of E-Z Pool.

What is E-Z Pool?

E-Z Pool is a concentrated pool chemical blend, think of it as a pool water care program. E-Z Pool was specifically designed to eliminate the confusion and hassle of dumping in so many chemicals on a weekly basis. The E-Z Pool blend itself contains your balancers (pH, alkalinity, and calcium hardness), algaecide, stable oxidizer, clarifier, scale inhibitor, and water conditioner. The stable oxidizer helps prevent contaminant buildup and when combined with the algaecide allows chlorine to work much greater. The scale inhibitor helps impede scaling and staining on your pool surfaces. And the clarifier ensures that the pool is always sparkling clear. E-Z Pool is a true all-in-one.

Steps to take to start E-Z Pool

There are two steps you as the pool owner must take in order to get on the E-Z Pool program.

  1. Balance the pool water.
  2. Raise the water’s calcium levels to 350 or above

Number one should be obvious. What E-Z Pool does essentially is lock your balancers in place, which eliminates the need to manually add pH, alkalinity, or calcium to the pool. Balancing the pool beforehand is essential. The second step however is not so obvious. For a refresher, the ideal chemical ranges for pool balancers are:

  • pH: 7.2 – 7.8
  • Alkalinity: 80 – 120 ppm
  • Calcium hardness: 175 – 350 ppm

So why does the calcium have to be so high then? For the purposes of this article, it won’t be necessary for you to know the intricate chemical process that makes calcium the primary force behind E-Z Pool. Think of calcium as the motor for E-Z Pool, it makes the program run at the top of it’s ability. One of the great benefits of E-Z Pool is that it eliminates the need for keeping so many other chemicals on hand, we do however recommend keeping some calcium hardness on retainer in case your pools levels ever drop below 350. The higher the calcium, the better E-Z Pool works!

E-Z Pool was created to make pool chemistry maintenance easier for pool owners, hence the name. A treatment of E-Z is a small scoop that is deposited directly into the pool on the same day every week. The number of scoops you will use is dependant on the number of gallons in the pool.

E-Z Pool will not eliminate the need for chlorine entirely, but it does significantly lower the need to shock the pool on a weekly basis. It is best to use E-Z Pool in combination with chlorine tablets, as the combined chlorine output will be sufficient in keeping the pool clean and clear.

Test the Pool!

Testing your pool water is essential no matter what chemicals or treatment you plan you use. E-Z Pool was designed for simple efficiency, but it cannot work unless the chemicals in the pool are in the proper ranges. E-Z Pool won’t stop rain from entering the pool and dropping the water’s pH to acidic levels. If the calcium levels gradually decrease to below 350, E-Z Pool loses it’s motor. If you have too little chlorine in the pool, E-Z Pool’s algaecide will work overtime to prevent the pool from turning green. The point is, test the water weekly. A good time to test the water would be the day of or the day before your E-Z Pool day, that way you ensure that the chemistry is perfect before the E-Z Pool goes in.

Final Thoughts

Pool’s require a lot of attention and care that not every pool owner has time for, and with E-Z Pool these types of pool owners can be at ease. E-Z Pool has just about everything a pool needs to stay clean, clear, and healthy all year around. Remember though, you can’t just “start” E-Z Pool, there are just a couple small steps that must be taken before you can actually start the program. Once these steps are completed, you are good to go.
