A Review of the X36 Fiberglass Pool from River Pools

For most people researching inground pool types, fiberglass pools have a lot of benefits that make them hard to resist. They’re the newest type of pool in the industry and have taken huge leaps technologically in the past 25 years.

We have seen these innovations firsthand. At Royal Pools and G2 Outdoor Designs, we have been selling and installing fiberglass pools for over 24 years. We remember when they first started manufacturing fiberglass pools with deeper deep ends. One of the companies that has been at the forefront of fiberglass manufacturing is River Pools, based in Virginia. They have 5 lines of unique fiberglass pools and three other pool types.

Today we’re going to talk about one of those pool types, the X36. We’ll talk a bit about its features and functions as well as weigh the pros and cons for you. Hopefully, this article will help you determine what there is to like and dislike about this pool, maybe you’ll even determine if it’s the right pool for you.

Size Options

The X36 is only available in one size, which may be a drawback for many people. The tanning ledge and spa do take up some swimming space that some homeowners may need.

  • 16’ x 36’
  • Holds 21,600 gallons
  • Depth of 4’ – 6’

Features and Functionality

The first thing you notice about the X36 is that awesome square spa next to the tanning ledge. The spa even has a spillway function adding further aesthetic elegance to the pool. Fiberglass pools with built-in spas have grown in popularity in recent years, and this is one of the most impressive ones we have seen. A spa or tanning ledge will always take away some swimming space, but this pool still has ample swim space. As is common with fiberglass pools, the steps and surface have a non-slip surface that makes it one of the safest pool options. Features of the X36 include:

  • Built-in spa
  • Tanning ledge
  • Slip-resistant steps and surface
  • Deep-end benches double as exit points

There’s a lot to enjoy about this pool, but no pool is perfect. It would be really nice if there were, but alas. The X36 does have the massive benefit of the spa, but that’s not its only benefit, and it has a couple of drawbacks as well.

Pros

  • Includes spa
  • Non-slip surface
  • Slightly larger deep-end
  • Ease of maintenance
  • Multiple color options

Cons

  • Limited swim space due to tanning ledge and spa
  • Only available in one size
  • High cost of fiberglass

We give the X36 fiberglass pool an A-. The spa alone guarantees this pool a minimum A grade. A pool spa all in one is perfect for anyone hoping to convert their backyard into an outdoor oasis that will last for years. If you are looking for a pool with lots of swim space or a really large deep end, this pool may not be the one for you. But by our estimation, the X36 is a great pool.
