Vermiculite Swimming Pool Base? What You Need To Know
The majority of vinyl liner inground pools are built with a vermiculite pool base. Vermiculite is a clay-like substance that hardens into a cement-like substance when combined with water.
Common Problems With Older Vermiculite Pool Bases:
- Pitting/crumbling
- Cracking
- Surface Erosion
- Soft spots
- Washout after a leak
Why Vermiculite Matters During Vinyl Liner Replacements
Your pool liner can only look as good as the base below it. If the vermiculite base is uneven or damaged, you run the risk of encountering:
- Visible floor bumps
- Wrinkles
- Liner wear spots
- Shortened liner lifespan
Royal Pools G2 can repair or completely resurface your vermiculite base so your new liner sits perfectly smooth. Check out this article for more information.
